DESIGN & PROGRAM BRIEF: STUDIO- III

Climatic conditions and building material selection and application as one of determinants of design and the resultant form – Understanding of climate and the application of climate responsive solutions with special emphasis on the application of building materials and their ability to create an architectural space or form of a certain character and scale.

At third semester level, the complexity of understanding the building form increases with accommodation of climatic strategies in the design. The form derivation exercises pave a path to acknowledge the locally available materials with respect to the specific climatic data. Study simple building systems that use conventional as well as indigenous building materials and its application for respective climatic zones. To develop a thorough understanding of climate responsive architecture through site analysis of existing contextual parameters that impacts the design decision for built environment.
