Mandu 2017

The Malwa kingdom of Mandu and Dhar with its Arabic influence of the stylistic architectural elements. The fortified city of Mandu known as the ‘City of Joy’ under the rule of Hoshang Shah lies as a Ghost town in these days. The palatial precinct consists of various architectural marvels like Jahaz mahal, Hindola Mahal with Kapoor talav and Munj talave and the subterranean baolis; with considerable references to the Persian architecture styles. This brutalistic stylistic expression in the Malwa Islamic architecture, is devoid of any elaborate decoration; conversely the pointed arches assembly either in a series of repetitive structural system or an arcade that dominates the elevations.
