Guest Lecture by Ar.Parul Zaveri

Ar. Parul Zaveri, completed diploma in Architecture from CEPT in 1978.She did courses in Urban Settlement Design with training in ceramics & offset printing at MIT, Cambridge in 1975. She also pursued interest in alternative technologies andthe solar energies. She has been a visiting faculty at CEPT and NID Ahmedabad. She, along with her husband, Ar. Nimish Patel established Abhikram, a Planning, Architecture, Conservation & Interior Consultancy firm in Ahmedabad, in 1979.She received the ‘JIIA Award for Excellence in Architecture for Institutional Buildings’, 1993, ‘JIIA-KITPLY Conservation Award’, 1994 & also the ‘Fellowship of Chicago Cultural Centre’ in 1995.She believes that green architecture is contextual, sustainable and responsible in every aspects. She is committed to conservation of our cultural heritage, revival and continuation of the use of the traditional materials, technologies and the skills, generation of work and livelihood for traditional craftsmen. She and her husband were instrumental in initiating the Heritage Conservation Movement in Udaipur, Jaipur and Amber. Besides winning several awards for their professional works in Architecture, Interior Design and Conservation fields in India, they have also won internationally prestigious UNESCO’S Asia Pacific Heritage Award for Culture, Heritage Conservation in 2000. Moreover, they are the first Indian Architects, shortlisted for the prestigious 2016 Ashden International Awards, better known as the “Green Oscars”.
